While officers were conducting a traffic stop on Indian Road, it was discovered the driver, Liam Harrigan, had an active NCIC Warrant out of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Denville police said.

As officers attempted to take Harrigan into custody, he fled from them in his vehicle, police said. While fleeing, Harrigan struck a Denville police officer, leaving him with minor injuries, authorities said.

A short time later, New Jersey State Police found Harrigan's unoccupied vehicle along Route 80 east in Fairfield, police said. An investigation revealed Harrigan was at a Costco on Route 23, police said.

He was taken into custody and charged with eluding, obstruction, hindering, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, assault by auto, possession of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, speeding, reckless driving, and numerous traffic violations.
